Andrew Sumner joined Living Options Devon as a volunteer in 2015. He began by helping with the Countryside Mobility project, a scheme which enables people with limited mobility to access the South West’s glorious countryside. He helped with the membership, enabling the project to run smoothly while providing excellent customer service. He soon began getting involved with other areas of the business, from front of house reception to behind the scenes admin tasks.
As his confidence grew, he took part in various fundraising activities including bucket collections, cake sales and a charity barbecue, raising vital funds for the organisation.
“Volunteering and working at Living Options Devon has given me a sense of purpose and increased my confidence. I have been given many opportunities to use and develop existing skills and learn new ones, and I enjoy working with a great bunch of people.”
As a direct result of Andrew’s volunteering at Living Options Devon, he has now secured permanent employment at the organisation.
